PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microstrip type patch antenna which has a wide band and is short. SOLUTION: In this patch antenna comprising a planar ground conductor 32, a plate-shaped dielectric 11 arranged on the ground conductor 32, and a patch-shaped radiation conductor 21 arranged on the top surface of the dielectric 11, the length of the ground conductor 32 is≤1/2 of the free space wavelength of a frequency to be used, and the lengths of the dielectric 11 and the radiation conductor 21 are smaller than that of the ground conductor 32. Since the length of the ground conductor 32 is defined as≤1/2 wavelength and radio waves can be radiated in all directions, a frequency band of the antenna can be expanded even though the thickness of the dielectric 11 is not large.
