In pyrolysis for the disposal of refuse containing hydrocarbon residues, the residues are introduced into a reactor in a clean or soiled condition, in a wet or dry condition. The residues are either crushed, or shredded, or not reduced in size. The reactor is sealed air-tight prior to pyrolysis. The reactor is placed inside a pyrolysis oven and has a gas exhaust which allows the reaction to take place under ambient pressure conditions. The oven temperature is raised in stages to ca. 600[deg]C, with intervening periods of stable temperature that allow the completion of certain physical and chemical processes. Gases are discharged via a cooling assembly and pyrolysis oil is recovered for use elsewhere. Non-condensed gases are discharged through a filter. After reaching 600[deg]C the pyrolysis reactor is removed from the oven but remains linked to the exhaust. The reactor then cools to between 20[deg]C and 40[deg]C.
|
