Removal of halogenation products in chlorinated water, especially drinking or swimming pool water, by addition of bromide ion source followed by irradiation

A method for removal of halogenation products in chlorinated water involves: (a) adding at least one bromine compound (I) suitable for releasing bromide ions in water, then (b) irradiating using a source of radiation suitable for decomposing the obtained halogenation products. An independent claim is included for the use of (I) for treating chlorinated water.
