<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical head device low in manufacturing cost by stabilizing the intensity of laser beams detected by a front monitor, and to provide a manufacturing method capable of realizing the optical head device. <P>SOLUTION: The optical head device is provided with a light source, a beam splitter arranged on an optical axis of the laser beams emitted from the light source, and a monitoring phtodetector for receiving the laser beams transmitted through a separation face of the beam splitter; and is constituted so that an optical storage medium is irradiated with the reflection light reflected on the separation face. In the device, a wavelength plate, by which the phase difference α becomes α=π×(2n-1), n=1, 2, 3∼, is arranged between the light source and the beam splitter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
