PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide which is excellent and well-balanced in the all characteristics of loss, polarization plane dependence, heat resistance, and cost in the wavelength bands of 1,300 nm and 1,550 nm and which is worth to be used as a product. SOLUTION: A fluorinated trifunctional acrylate is used for the material of the core layer or the clad layer of the polymer optical waveguide. The waveguide is produced to have≥100°C glass transition temperature Tg,≤0.3 dB/cm loss in the 1.3μm wavelength band and≤0.6 dB/cm loss in the 1.55μm wavelength band. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
