摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for detecting spark plug gaps of an internal combustion engine capable of surely detecting spark plug gaps of the internal combustion engine provided with a semi-direct ignition system. SOLUTION: Electrical discharge of spark plugs 21, 24 or 22, 23 of two cylinders 11, 14 or 12, 13 in a same group is carried out simultaneously while revolving an internal combustion engine 10 with a motor 54. A wave shape of secondary voltage signal of an ignition coil 31 or 32 during electrical discharge is detected by a detection coil 51 or 52 and monitored by an inspection unit 53. And a cylinder in a compression stroke is distinguished before electric discharge by the inspection unit 53. Discharge gap 21a, 22a, 23a or 24a of the spark plug 21, 22, 23 or 24 built in the cylinder distinguished as one in compression stroke is detected based on the wave form of the secondary voltage signal.
