PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a photocatalytic coating solution curable in a short time at normal temperature after applying to a substrate and forming a photocatalytic coating film resistant to peeling and provide the photocatalytic coating solution. SOLUTION: The method for the production of the photocatalytic coating solution comprises a step to form a wet gel by adding dimethylformamide to an organic solvent, mixing with a titanium alkoxide, adding an acid catalyst and stirring for≥48 hr to form the wet gel by sol-gel reaction, a step to dissolve the wet gel by adding an organic solvent containing lactic acid to the wet gel, and a titanium dioxide dispersing step to disperse anatase titanium dioxide powder in the wet gel solution.
