METHOD FOR PRODUCING AROMATIC CARBOXYLIC ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an aromatic carboxylic acid corresponding to an aromatic compound from the aromatic compound by using an inexpensive oxidizing agent excellent in handleability and having little load on environment. SOLUTION: The method for producing the aromatic carboxylic acid comprises producing the corresponding aromatic carboxylic acid in which the carboxy group of the carboxylic acid is bonded to an aromatic ring of (C) an aromatic compound by reacting the aromatic compound (C) with (D) carbon monoxide and (E) molecular oxygen in the presence of (A) a palladium compound catalyst and (B) a catalyst composed of (B1) a heteropoly acid or its salt or (B2) a mixture of oxo acids or their salts containing an element of P or Si with at least one element selected from V, Mo and W.
