PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a mixture containing BIMD [2,5-bis(isocyanatomethyl)-1,4-dithiane] with which the high-purity BIMD with slight discoloration can be obtained and to provide a method for industrially advantageously producing the BIMD. SOLUTION: The method for purifying the BIMD is to isolate the BIMD by distilling the mixture containing the BIMD. The method for purifying the BIMD comprises a step of treating the mixture containing the BIMD with a removing material for colored substances. The method comprises a step of carrying out a phosgenation reaction of an inorganic acid salt of BAMD [2,5-bis(aminomethyl)-1,4-dithiane], a step of treating the resultant phosgenation reaction product with the removing material for the colored substances and a step of distilling the reaction product treated with the removing material for the colored substances and isolating the BIMD. Thereby, the high-purity BIMD with the slight discoloration can be isolated/purified by simple operation without adding a great change to a conventional method for production.
