PURPOSE: A composition for maintaining a permanent wave containing alum as an essential component and saccharin, glucose, lactose or ginseng as an auxiliary component is provided. The composition maintains the permanent wave for a long period of time while preventing hair loss. CONSTITUTION: The composition for maintaining a permanent wave contains 10 to 90% by weight of alum and an auxiliary component selected from the group consisting of 1 to 30% by weight of saccharin, 1 to 50% by weight of glucose, 1 to 30% by weight of lactose or 1 to 30% by weight of ginseng, based on the total weight of the composition.
