PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing the water extract of Cordyceps militaris and Inonotus obliquus as an effective ingredient is provided. The composition exhibits excellent effect on various types of diabetes, in particular Type 1 and type 2 diabetes without causing any adverse side effect and is thus used as drugs and foods for prevention and treatment of diabetes. CONSTITUTION: The pharmaceutical composition contains 50 to 90 parts by weight of a Cordyceps militaris extract and 10 to 50 parts by weight of Inonotus obliquus. The dose of the composition is 60mg/kg/day. The composition is formulated into the shape of granules, powders, coated tablets, tablets, capsules, extracts, suppositories, syrups, juices, suspensions, emulsions and slow release formulations of active compounds. The extract is used for foods for treatment of diabetes by adding vitamins, flavorings, natural carbohydrate or the like.
