PURPOSE: A method for cooling and heating a surface of a mobile communication terminal and a method therefor are provided to magnetize a magnetocaloric effect metal in cold winter by coating the magnetocaloric effect metal, and to demagnetize the magnetocaloric effect metal in hot summer, thereby realizing a heating function and a cooling function. CONSTITUTION: A terminal user selects a desired temperature(401), and the selected temperature is displayed on an LCD(402). A system decides whether the selected temperature is a cooling temperature or a heating temperature(403). In case of the heating temperature, the system operates a magnetocaloric controlling IC in a heating function(404), and applies a control signal to a magnetic field. The magnetic field is magnetized(405) to heat a surface of a terminal(406). A temperature sensor senses the heating temperature to maintain a certain heating temperature(407). The system cuts off a surface temperature of the terminal from being transmitted inside the terminal(408). The system decides whether a cooling/heating operational switch is turned off(414). If so, the system completes the procedure.
