PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an epoxy compound in high yield by using a compound having a double bond as a raw material. SOLUTION: The method for producing the epoxy compound comprises reacting the compound having the double bond with an organic hydroperoxide using a transition metal compound as a catalyst. In the method for producing the epoxy compound, an aluminum compound is used in combination with the catalyst and the compound having the double bond is a compound having a heteroatom at the allylic position.
