PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a machine operation rate by shortening machine stopping time when supplying a new core and cutting a web in a conventional slitter. SOLUTION: In a web winder of the slitter, a touch roller 2 is arranged in pressure contact in a web entering position of an outer peripheral surface of a winding roll R wound on longitudinally or vertically respectively arranged individual winders 1 by longitudinally or vertically separating a cut narrow web by cutting a wide web in a narrow width of a plurality of strips in the longitudinal direction. The new core 4 is supplied by a core supply device 3 between the winding roll and the touch roller 2 when the winding roll R becoming a full winding separates from the touch roller 2. The web W is contacted with a part of a surface of the new core 4, and the web W on the new core 4 is cut by a cutter 8 for crossing in the longitudinal direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
