PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing method which can reinforce a structure with a fiber-reinforced composite material having a stable quality and is reliable even in on-site construction in case it is necessary to partly reinforce a portion of a structure under stress. SOLUTION: In the reinforcing method, a ring-shaped fiber-reinforced composite material formed in a factory so as to cover a portion to be reinforced of a targeted structure is fitted to the targeted structure. The fiber-reinforced composite material is composed of reinforcing fibers having a specific tensile strength of 200×10<SP>3</SP>m or higher and a specific modulus of 3×10<SP>6</SP>m or higher and a resin for binding the fibers. The fibers are preferably oriented in the direction the same as that of the stress given to a reinforced portion of an targeted structure. The reinforcing fiber is preferably an aramide fiber, a carbon fiber, a glass fiber, a vinylon fiber or a poly-p-phenylene benzoxazole fiber. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
