The present invention provides corn that includes the MON810 event, which confers resistance to Lepidopteran insect damage. Also provided are assays for detecting the presence of the MON810 event based on the DNA sequence of the recombinant construct inserted into the corn genome that resulted in the MON810 event and of genomic sequences flanking the insertion site.
