OPTICAL MODULE AND OPTICAL TRANSCEIVER

A technology in an optical module for preventing a returning light through an inexpensive arrangement. After a hole for exposing the forward end of an optical fiber strand (2) is made in the forward end face of a tubular metal component of SUS303, a hole for passing an optical fiber (1) is made to form a tubular metal ferrule (3). On the other hand, a hole for passing the optical fiber and the metal ferrule (3) is made through a tubular metal component of SUS304 thus forming a tubular metal ferule (4). The metal ferrule (3) is press fitted to the cavity part of the metal ferule (4) and bonded in place and the optical fiber is inserted into the holes of the metal ferrules (3, 4) such that the optical fiber strand is exposed from the forward end face of the metal ferrule (3). The optical fiber is bonded to the metal ferrules (3, 4) by adhesive (17).
