The laying up device is for a cutting-out machine which has a rotating plate (20) to receive the laid-up substrate, a drive device to rotate the plate through a preset angle, and a holding device to fix the substrate to the plate. The holding device is in the form of a suction pad (26) fitted centrally to the plate, on which the substrate can be laid and fixed.
