A friction article relates to machine-building and can be used in brakes, in particular disc ones, of mechanical means of transportation, in friction nodes of other metal systems. The friction article has a metal frame, a friction element, this is made of polymer composite material and is fixed on the frame by means of glue layer, and means for signaling of wear of the friction element. The means for signaling of wear of friction element are arranged as sub-layer of the friction element with uniform thickness not smaller than the limiting allowed thickness of the wearing friction element at operation. At that the sub-layer is placed at the side of metal frame and is made of that polymer composite material to which are additionally discretely included particles of material able to generate sound effect at friction over the metal surface of the counter-body, thus signaling of coming to limiting allowed thickness of the wearing friction element. Due to such method of signaling of the friction article, without violation of its integrity and decrease of friction properties increase of reliability and safety of the article is provided in the assemblage of the brake of mechanical means of transportation.
