The use of a soluble charged amphiphilic polymer as thickening agent in aqueous composition (I) comprising at least 5 wt.% of surfactant(s) organized in giant micelles of which the average length is at least 4 times the average diameter. The polymer is used such that the viscosity of the composition is a least 3 times that of (I) alone and that of an aqueous solution comprising the polymer alone.
