The identification code reader (4) and the access gateway (5) are on the outside unsecured side (1) of the barrier (3). A data conductor line (6) leads through the barrier to the secure side (2). An evaluation circuit (7) on the secure side is connected to a locking mechanism (8) for the gateway. Alternative versions of the system may control several gateways in parallel.
