As material for an optical hydrostatic pressure switch, copper bromide-pentatiophosphate (Cu6PS5Br) is used. This material provides double light refraction at a defined temperature and the increase of the refraction coefficient as the hydrostatic pressure increases. The present invention provides a possibility to enhance the reliability of the measurement results as the periodic calibration of the relay is not required.
