PURPOSE: A method and a device for diagnosing a computer system are provided to enable a user to solve a detail problem of the computer system without an external aid, and perform diagnosis with an LED(Light Emitting Diode) or a beep sound of each device even if no system failure is displayed on a screen. CONSTITUTION: A starter of a system BIOS(Basic Input/Output System) checks a connection state of each device(51). If a connection state of all devices is good, the selection for performing a diagnosis mode is checked. If the connection state of at least one device is not good, an error state of each device is displayed(69). If the execution of the diagnosis mode is decided, the diagnosis mode is performed(61). The system is restarted after the diagnosis mode(72). If the execution of the diagnosis mode is not decided, a boot failure state is checked after performing a normal POST(Power On Self Test) process, and the system is booted to an OS(Operating System, 83).
