The loading device for a forklift truck (1,2,3) has a telescopic arm (8,10) for moving a load rack in both a first and a second direction relatively to the truck. The telescopic arm is provided with a pick-up component (12,13) for securement of a loading rack (23). With the forks of the vehicle, part loads can be taken out of the loading rack and placed in a desired position.
