PURPOSE: An OSD image display device in a composite image apparatus and a method thereof are provided to selectively read one of OSD font data and OSD graphic images while operating the first image apparatus and the second image apparatus, thereby simplifying a configuration of a composite image apparatus. CONSTITUTION: The second microcomputer performs a system booting operation(S11). If a current operational mode is a VCR operational mode(S12), the first microcomputer drives a tape driving mechanism. The first microcomputer records/stores video and audio signals in a video tape(S13), and generates a command for requesting the second microcomputer to transmit OSD font data(S14). The second microcomputer reads the OSD font data, and transmits the OSD font data to the first microcomputer(S15). The first microcomputer outputs/displays OSD images(S16). If a user selects an optional operation and a function, the first microcomputer carries out the corresponding operation and the function(S20).
