PURPOSE: A method for tracking a position of a mobile terminal in a CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) communication network is provided to distinguish a position of a mobile terminal in a service region of a repeater extended from a base station or in a service region of the base station, thereby exactly tracking the position of the mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: When RTD(Round Trip Delay) information is received(S501), a position operating center decides whether the received RTD value exceeds the first threshold value(S502). If so, the position operating center recognizes that a mobile terminal is located in a service region of a repeater instead of a service region of a base station, and changes positions of the base station with positions of the repeater(S503). If the RTD value does not exceed the first threshold value, the position operating center recognizes that the mobile terminal is located in the service region of the base station, and obtains position information of the base station in a base station database(S504). The position operating center operates a position of the mobile terminal(S505).
