PURPOSE: A device and method for controlling washing for a dishwasher is provided to save water and electrical energy and quickly wash dishes by controlling the injection of washing water according to the shape of the dishes. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling washing for a dishwasher is composed of a main body(110) having a washing tub(111), injection nozzle units(123,124) installed in the washing tub and having a plurality of nozzles(123a,124a) for injecting washing water, a nozzle driving unit(124b) for controlling the angle of the nozzles, a washing water pump(113) installed in the main body and supplying washing water to the injection nozzle unit, a shape detecting sensor(141) installed in the washing tub and detecting the shape of dishes, and a control unit. The control unit receives signals from the shape detecting sensor, and controls the washing water pump and the nozzle driving unit.
