The invention relates to methods which can be used to select compounds that can inhibit the development of the early stage of the infection of the organism by the HIV-1 virus, namely the step involving the initiation of the retrotranscription of the viral genome, prior to the integration of the viral sequences in the cell genome of the infected host organism.
