The device has a transversal canopy bar fixed in a tight manner from back edge to lower edge of a windshield. The bar presents a front edge placed under a back part of a bonnet when the bonnet is in closed position. A transversal strut (40) supports the front edge of the bar and presents a sectile zone which breaks on the back part of the bonnet in case of an impact having higher energy than a predetermined value.
