FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a single-stage method for preparing polyimides based on aminophenoxyphthalic acids that can be used in making materials eliciting high thermal stability. Polyimides comprise at least one repeating link taken among links of the general structure (I): ^ ^ and/or (II): ^ ^ wherein R means hydrogen atom or N-morphinyl radical; R1 means hydrogen atom or oxyphenyl radical. Method involves polycyclocondensation reaction of at least one among aminophenoxyphthalic acid taken among acids of the general formula (III): ^ ^ and/or (IV): ^ ^ wherein R and R1 have above indicated values. The polycyclocondensation process is carried out in melt of at least one aromatic monocarboxylic acid at temperature 110-165oC for 1.5-2.5 h.
