A rotary cutting tool (10) having a plurality of removable cutting inserts (16) is provided. The rotary cutting tool (10) comprises a rotary tool body (12) for rotation about a central shaft. The tool body (12) includes an outer profile peripheral surface (18). A plurality of slots (24) extend radially inwardly from the outer peripheral edge of the tool body (12). A plurality of cutting inserts (16) are placed in the slots. Each of the cutting inserts (16) has side edges (31) defining an outermost edge (33) and a geometrical configuration (32) thereon. The geometrical configuration (32) is for engagement with an annular rib (40) on an attachment ring (14). A pair of attachment rings (14) entrap the tool body (12) and cutting inserts (16) therebetween. |
