The detector has a ball (14) made of current conducting material and placed in a stable position in an absence of acceleration and deceleration between two maintaining units (16.1, 16.2). The ball has a current conductor placed on both sides of a shock plane. A limiting unit (20) in a form of ring limits the displacement of the ball in the shock plane without contact with the ball when the ball is in the stable position. An independent claim is also included for a process of detecting shock producing a deceleration or acceleration.
