The collection device 50 includes a collection chamber 52 having an opening sufficient 57 for permitting collection of a material such as bone chips during a surgical procedure and a scoop wall 64 extending from the collection chamber 52, the scoop wall 64 having a distal end portion for positioning proximate a source of the material and for guiding the material to the collection chamber. The collection chamber 52 has at least one aperture 32 within the collection chamber 52 of a size to permit flow of fluid from the chamber when the collected material is contained within the chamber. The scoop wall 64 may be bendable away from the opening of the collection chamber 52 to provide better access to the bone chips. Additionally, a wicking material 81 is attached to the collection chamber on an outside surface in fluid association with the at least one aperture 32 to help wick fluid from within the chamber 52. |
