A capsule type medical device includes: a capsule-shaped external member; a sensor capable of sensing a physical amount change caused outside of the external member in a non-contact manner; and a switch circuit performing at least one of two controls arranged inside the external member: a first control for switching energy supply from a battery to an electric circuit from ON to OFF and a second control for switching the energy supply from OFF to ON according to a temporary change of the physical amount detected by the sensor. The state of energy supply switched by these controls can be maintained until the sensor detects the next physical amount change.
