A process for producing a cation-curable silicon compound containing an oxetanyl group, which comprises subjecting the following (A) and (B) to hydrolytic cocondensation in the presence of an acid catalyst having a pKa of 5 or lower (25°C) and a boiling point of 150°C or lower (at the atmospheric pressure). Preferably, it comprises subjecting the following (A), (B), and (C) to hydrolytic condensation in the presence of an acid catalyst. (A) (B) (C) In the formulae, Ro is an organic functional group containing an oxetanyl group; X is a group forming a siloxane bond; R2 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl; n is 0 to 2; and Y is hydroxy or a group forming a siloxane bond.
