PURPOSE: A video scaler is provided to convert various formats of input video signals to suit to resolution of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel. CONSTITUTION: A video scaler includes a horizontal scaler(110), a vertical scaler(130), and a line memory(120). The horizontal scaler extends or reduces a video signal in the horizontal direction. The vertical scaler extends or reduces the video signal in the vertical direction. The horizontal scaler and the vertical scaler share the line memory. The line memory stores the video signal from the horizontal scaler and outputs the video signal to the vertical scaler. The horizontal scaler horizontally extends or reduces the video signal to store a video signal having a desired horizontal resolution in the line memory. The vertical scaler vertically extends or reduces the video signal stored in the line memory to generate a video signal adapted to resolution of an LCD panel.
