The process involves generating a model file in extensible markup language (XML) format and having characteristics e.g. table. A primary data flow in the XML format is generated from data in a database. Another data flow adapted to the model file characteristics is generated. Final documents in extensible style sheet language-formatting objects (XSL-FO) are generated by merging the latter flow with the model file. The primary data flow has a standard format and characteristics independent of the characteristics of the model file.
