The invention relates to a retaining device for mechanically and electrically connecting a mobile user device, particularly a mobile telephone or a PDA, to a vehicle. The retaining device comprises a base part (1) for permanently fixing inside the vehicle and a retaining part for holding the mobile user device. The base part (1) comprises at least one rigid first hook element (10) and at least one spring-loaded second hook element (21, 22), which are arranged in an interspaced manner while projecting upward on the top side of the base part (1) facing the retaining part. The base part also comprises an electrical connecting element (4) for electrically connecting the base part to the retaining part. This connecting element is placed on the side of the base part (1), this side facing the retaining part, between the at least one rigid first hook element (10) and the at least one spring-loaded second hook element (21, 22). The underside of the retaining part facing the base part (1) has a first recess for locking with a first hook element and has at least one second recess, which is located at a distance from the first and which is provided for locking with a second hook element.
