CONTRAST MEDIUM FOR MRI

A contrast medium for MRI by which a part in a vessel suffering from epithelial peeling can be specifically detected and contrasted. In this contrast medium for MRI, a contrast unit containing an atom and/or a molecule having unpaired electron and being capable of elevating or lowering an MRI signal is attached to a detection unit selectively recognizing a part with epithelial peeling in a vessel and binding to this part. A chemical structural formula contained in the detection unit is exemplified by compounds represented by the following general formula (I). In the general formula (I), at least one of R<1> to R<11> is, for example, sulfonate; and X represents, for example, phenyl or substituted pheny.
