The invention relates to novel peril acid and alcohol derivatives and to the use of peril acid and alcohol and the derivatives thereof in the form of antimicrobial agents acting against bacteria, yeast and moulds. The inventive agents are used, in particular for producing cosmetic, dermatological, pharmaceutical or veterinary preparations, compounds for animal food and forage, phytosanitary products, paper raw materials and technical preparations. Said antimicrobial agents consist of natural monoterpene <1,8 (9)>-menthadien (limonene) oxydation products and the derivatives thereof.
