METHOD FOR PREPARING THICKENER FOR TEXTILE PRINT BY USING WATER INSTEAD OF AN ORGANIC SOLVENT

PURPOSE: A method for preparing a thickener for textile print is provided to prevent the risk of fire and water pollution, and improve the working environment by using water instead of an organic solvent. The thickener prepared by the method also has excellent water dispersibility and rheological properties with reduced amount of use, thereby reducing the time and cost spent on its production. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing a thickener for textile print comprises: mixing 35-45wt% of deionized water, 35-40wt% of an acrylic acid as a main monomer and 25-30wt% of an acrylamide in a reactor with stirring to obtain 100wt% of an aqueous phase; mixing 70-90wt% of a Dsol-240 that is an ester-based oil, 5-15wt% of a surfactant where two species of sorbitan fatty esters are mixed at a ratio of 1:1-1:5 and 5-15wt% of stearyl acrylate as a hydrophobic monomer to obtain an oil phase; adding the aqueous phase to the oil phase at a ratio of 1:1 and then homogenizing the mixture to form uniform emulsion monomers having a particle size of 10nm or less; and aging the emulsion monomers with nitrogen for 10-60 minutes.
