An electrochemical sensor, to monitor ion activity in chemical and biological processes, has a measurement electrode and a reference electrode within a closed glass housing (1). The inner chamber (2) has an inner shunt electrode (3) as the measurement electrode together with a glass membrane (4). The outer concentric ring chamber (5) has a reference electrode (6) together with a shunt electrode (7). Diaphragm (8) is at the lower part of the housing. The outer chamber holds at least one elastic body (9), and is completely filled with a reference electrolyte (6). The electrochemical sensor has an elastic body of a metal spring with a piston, or a polymer foam. The elastic body fills 10-90 vol.% or 30-60 vol.% of the outer ring chamber. The pressure within the outer chamber is at 0.5-4.0 bar. The reference electrolyte contains a strip, resistant to heat. An independent claim is included for the production of an electrochemical sensor, where at least one elastic body is inserted into the outer ring chamber, together with the reference electrode, and the outer chamber is sealed by a rubber joint (10). The outer chamber is completely filled with a reference electrolyte, by a tube through the rubber plug. The air tube is withdrawn, and the reference electrolyte is topped up to give the required pressure. The tubular housing is sealed by a sealing mass (13), and the sensor is fitted to a coupling head (14). |
