FIELD: paper-and-pulp industry. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention concerns sizing surface of formed paper or cardboard sheet, or cellulose pulp, as well as for printing paper sheet with the aid of claimed composition. The latter contains aqueous dispersion of polymer particles with degree of dispersity up to 1 mcm, preferably 80 to 200 nm. Polymer particles contain water-insoluble polymer matrix composed of ethylenically unsaturated monomer or mixture of such monomers. Surface of polymer particles is covered by oligomer formed from mixture of monomers containing (meth)acrylamide and organic mercaptan, preferably dodecylmercaptan. Oligomer may additionally contain ethylenically unsaturated monomer including tertiary amine or quaternary ammonium group, preferably dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate, and other ethylenically unsaturated monomers, preferably acrylic acid or maleic anhydride. ^ EFFECT: increased waterproofness, whiteness, and capacity of printing treated paper. ^ 26 cl, 6 tbl, 6 ex
