METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ESTIMATING BAND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system which further shorten calculation time when estimating the usable band between terminals and further accurately estimate the band.

SOLUTION: The continuous transmission of a probe packet is repeated while a transmission interval Ikin the probe packet is changed from a transmission terminal toward a reception terminal. The reception terminal successively measures a reception interval Ik' in a received probe packet. Then, linear approximation is made for obtained series of data (Ik, Ik'-Ik) for calculating the usable band in the communication path between the transmission and reception terminals. A linear function y=-ax+b is used as the linear approximation, and the usable band B is calculated by an expression B=(a×L)/b.
