PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphorus eluting method capable of efficiently eluting phosphorus in sludge into a liquid phase in a short time and an apparatus therefor, and a phosphorus recovering method capable of efficiently recovering eluted phosphorus and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: In the method for eluting phosphorus in sludge and an apparatus therefor, phosphorus in sludge is eluted into an alkali solution by a pretreatment process for damaging microorganisms in sludge and a process for bringing sludge after pretreatment into contact with the alkali solution. Further, in the method for recovering phosphorus in sludge and the apparatus therefor, a flocculant is supplied to the alkali solution containing phosphorus eluted by the phosphorus eluting method and sedimented phosphorus is recovered.
