The actuator has a case formed with a cylinder bore (7) through which a piston (8) is arranged. A sensor (17) scans the position of the piston in the cylinder bore. A rail device is fixed and interconnected on a portion of a smooth-walled channel (14) of the case for fixing and locking the sensor in place along the channel. The sensor can be adjustably positioned in the channel formed laterally in the case, and away from the cylinder bore.
