<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit which is easy to maintain and a projection display device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The light source unit 8 is equipped with a light source lamp 181, a reflector 182, a lamp housing 184 which covers the nearly entire external surface of the reflector except an opening surface, and a front glass 183 which covers the opening surface of the reflector 182, those being replaceable in one body from the projection display device. The lamp housing 184 covers the nearly entire surface of the reflector 182, so even if the light source lamp 181 or reflector 182 is broken, fragments never scatter in the projection display device 1, so the inner side of the apparatus need not be cleaned while an exterior case removed, thereby making it easy to perform maintenance of the projection display device 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
