摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which is excellent in running stability and durability and is optimum for high density magnetic recording by prescribing impregnation quantity of lubricant impregnating in a back coat layer in a magnetic recording medium in which recording and reproducing of signals are performed by a linear system. SOLUTION: This medium is a magnetic recording medium 10 in which a plurality of tracks are provided in parallel to a longitudinal direction and recording and reproducing of signals are performed by a linear system, the medium 10 has a non-magnetic supporting body 1 extended in the longitudinal direction, a magnetic layer 3 in which a plurality of magnetic films 3a, 3b having an orthorhombic prism type structure are laminated and formed, a growth direction of laminated each magnetic film 3a, 3b is inverse direction to the longitudinal direction, and a back coat layer 6 which is formed at the other plane of the non-magnetic supporting body 1 and in which lubricant including fluorine compound is impregnated. Lubricant impregnation quantity at a position of depth 40nm from an average most surface position of the back coat layer 6 is made 20% or more of the lubricant impregnation quantity of the most surface position.
