A method for producing concrete shapes, such as pillars, with lost shuttering uses rigid strips (11) with inward facing ridges (13, 13) to grip into the cast concrete. The ridges are provided with grooves (121, 131), either outward or inward facing to provide grip for fitting the inner reinforcement and for other fittings, e.g. at the bottom and top of the pillars and to link to the wall fittings.
