<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal EGR quantity estimating device for an internal combustion engine capable of easily and accurately estimating the internal EGR quantity. <P>SOLUTION: Residual burned gas quantity Megr1 as the quantity of the burned gas existing in a cylinder just before opening an intake valve is computed on the basis of the intake pipe pressure Pm, the engine speed NE and the intake valve opening time Topen. Blown-back burned gas quantity Megr2 as the burned gas to be blown back into the cylinder from an exhaust pipe after opening the intake valve is computed on the basis of the intake pipe pressure Pm, the engine speed NE and the overlapped quantity OL. An estimation value of the internal EGR quantity MegrALL is computed as the sum of the residual burned gas quantity Megr1 and the blown-back burned gas quantity Megr2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
